PopMessenger - Fast and efficient chat software for Local Area Networks
Working in a large office building requires efficient communication. You can use a popular chat software, like Yahoo Messenger or MSN, but other people from your contacts list may interfere and hinder your work. The solution is simple. Pop Messenger works like any other chat software, but it only works on your Local Area Network (LAN). This way, you can talk to other staff members without needing to worry about people from the outside.
The package is 1.68 Mb large, which shouldn't take long to download. It features a standard installation wizard which will guide you through a few easy steps before starting the process and it will only take a few seconds to have the program up and running.
The interface looks like most chat software on the market. The left area of the window features a chat room for public communication. For private chat, you can simply click on someone's ID in the contacts list and start talking with him by making use of the small chat window that will show up. The only downside here is that you can't send a message by hitting the Enter key. You have to click the Send button every time.
There aren't too many options to be found in Pop Messenger. The toolbar offers simple options, such as clearing the chat window, saving it to a text file or printing it, switching to another channel and a few others. Advanced options can be accessed from a menu you can bring up by clicking a button, below the contacts list. The options found here include some features like enabling message delivery notifications, setting a different broadcast address and more.
Something that you will really appreciate is the fact that you won't need to make any configurations. All you have to do is install the program, run it and everyone from your local network, who is already using Pop Messenger, will immediately see you in their contacts lists.
Pros:
You can start using Pop Messenger in no time because there are no configurations to be made. You only need to install and run it.
Cons:
Pop Messenger is not licensed per network, but per individual user. Fortunately, the more licenses you buy, the cheaper they get.
Pop Messenger enables you to chat with anyone on your Local Area Network. There is no need to make any kind of settings, so you can start talking to your coworkers immediately.
